Britney Spear’s mother, Lynne Spears described her ex as a dysfunctional alcoholic in her 2008 autobiography “Through the Storm.” How can a man like that control his daughter’s life?
The world was Britney Spears’s oyster, and everyone loved Teen Princess of Pop in the 1990s and 2000s. Her two first singles were diamond records in the US and were global successes. Baby One More Time (1999) and Oops! …. I Did It Again (2000)
Due to a series of highly publicized personal struggles and mental health battles ending in hospitalization and rehab, Britney has been under a conservatorship by her father. A conservatorship is a legal concept in the US. A guardian or a protector is appointed by a judge to manage the financial affairs and/or daily life of another due to physical or mental limitations, or old age. Many people believe that does not apply to the 39-year-old Britney.
The controlling influence of Jamie Spears was shown in the documentary “Framing Britney Spears.” Britney has not been able to live her own life and spend her money how she wants it for 13 years due to the court sanctioned conservatorship.
LA Judge Brenda Penny ordered Jamie Spears and her appointed financial company Bessemer Trust to work together on a budget and investment plan for Britney. In November 2020 Britney’s lawyers attempt to remove Jamie’s conservatorship entirely was denied.
Both Britney’s and Jamie’s lawyers are expected back at the next court hearing on March 17.
