The Oscars 2021 were originally planned for 28th February 2021. As yet another event impacted by Covid19 the date has now moved to 25th April 2021 and it will be the 93rd event.
The nominations will be announced on 15th March 2021.
While there will be speculation until then, one movie already mentioned in line for top movie is ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’ (Netflix). This is a legal drama with the backdrop of Vietnam protesters who were charged with conspiracy and crossing state lines and subsequently inciting riots at the 1968 Chicago Democratic convention. It was originally intended to use unknown actors for this movie, but resulted in a strong cast including Mark Rylance, Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron Cohen and Michael Keaton.
