‘Crushin‘ The Fat Boy’s Legend Prince Markie Dee Dead at 52
At their heydays they were the greatest and most successful hip hop act in the world.
Prince Markie Dee is one of the members of the pioneering hiphop group The Fat Boys. His manager, Louis Gregory confirmed his death. “Forever in my Heart. Prince Markie Dee was more than a rapper; he was one of my very best and closest friends,” Gregory wrote on Twitter. “My heart breaks today because I lost a brother. I’ll always love you Mark and I’ll cherish everything you taught me. Tomorrow is your birthday, swing my way big bro.”
Prince Markie Dee started the group Disco 3 with Darren Robinson and Damon Wimbley teamed up with Darren Robinson. They later changed the name to The Fat Boys.
The group won a talent contest at Radio City Hall and from then on their career skyrocketed. They simultaneously released their platinum-selling fourth album Crushin’ and their breakout comedy film Disorderlies in the summer of 1987. The band was the best beatboxing group and their sense of humor was loved by all.
