Kate Winslet breaks new ground as a detective in ‘Mare of Easttown’. She not only stars in the series but also executive producer. An HBO production it starts 19th April on Sky Atlantic and Now TV.
Mare Sheehan is seen as a detective hero in her Pennsylvania town and the series revolves around the murder of a young girl. The whole community is a close one and as time goes on the dark side of the town becomes apparent. Kate is used to accents but she says she really struggled with the Delaware County accent. She also felt she would struggle to be a detective in real life as she didn’t have the stamina mentally. As the story progresses, her personal life is collapsing around her, especially in the conflicts with her mother and daughter. Filming began in 2019 but was delayed by Covid19 in 2020.
Kate Winslet is one of many executive producers alongside Craig Zobel with the same role as well as that of Director.
Kate’s hero status in the town has her named as “Ladyhawk” because of a famous basketball shot 25 years previously.
