American comedy classic Frasier is finally returning to television. After nearly 20 years, Kelsey Grammer will return as iconic psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane from the hit sitcom.
Also bringing back Frasier, one of the most highly acclaimed, most successful comedy series of all time. The revival will have everything you love about the original: coziness, great writing, and of course, a cast led by @KelseyGrammer. #ParamountPlus pic.twitter.com/cZKAOtw6WF

Paramount +
Streaming service Paramount + of the American television network ViacomCBS has officially announced that a reboot of Frasier will be made. The reboot will be produced by CBS Studios and Grammnet Productions - lead actor Kelsey Grammer's production company. Grammer has since announced that he is very excited to share the next chapter of Dr. Frasier Crane and congratulated Paramount on the launch of their own new streaming service Paramount +. The screenwriters of the new episodes are Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli known from the series How I Met Your Mother.
Frasier and Cheers
The series is about psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane who is a successful psychiatrist in Boston and is moving to Seattle to start a new life. For example, he has his own radio talk show where he gives advice to people who call about their personal and psychological problems, while he himself struggles with his personal relationships in a comical way. He lives with his father Marty (played by actor John Mahoney, who died in 2018), his father’s English nurse Daphne (played by Jane Leeves) and Jack Russell terrier Eddie – his father’s dog who always annoys Frasier. Also, he often competes with his little brother and fellow psychiatrist Niles (David Hyde Pierce) and often doesn’t come up with his radio producer and good friend Roz Doyle (Peri Gilpin).
The sitcom Frasier was itself a sequel to the ’80s comedy classic Cheers in which Kelsey Grammer also played Dr. Frasier Crane and lived in Boston. His character was so popular that Cheers screenwriter David Angell wanted to create a series of his own for Dr. Frasier Crane. Unfortunately, David Angell will not be writing the new episodes for Frasier, as he passed away as a passenger on the first hijacked flight of the September 11, 2001 attacks. It is also unclear which actors from the original series will return in the reboot.
Loyal Fans
Frasier won a total of 37 Emmys and 264 episodes were made. The fact that the series is being rebooted gives a sense of nostalgia to loyal fans – such as our Mashable Benelux editor Georgina Lara Booth who has been Frasier’s biggest fan since childhood. The Frasier series ran for eleven seasons from 1993 to 2004 and is still wildly popular with young and old alike today.
Possibly the best news this year...Frasier is coming back to TV! One of the best written sitcoms to have ever graced our TV screens. Pure genius. Looking forward to seeing @KelseyGrammer return as the one and only #Frasier @paramountplus #Nostalgia #FondChildhoodMemories #Seattle pic.twitter.com/NNQSYjMlqC
