More than just an actress, the Audrey Hepburn documentary titled “Audrey More Than An Icon” will be released 14th March (Netflix USA).

Audrey will also be remembered as a fashion icon and humanitarian. She was born in Brussels in 1929 and spent parts of her childhood in England, Belgium and The Netherlands. Although starting in the London West End Musical scene, she rose to fame in the movie “Roman Holiday” alongside Gregory Peck in 1953, this also made her the first actress to win an Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA for the same performance.

Audrey continued playing alongside some of the most famous actors in Hollywood including Humphrey Bogart and William Holden ( Sabrina), Cary Grant (Charade) and later in life Sean Connery ( Robin and Marian).

One of her most memorable performances was in “Breakfast at Tiffanys” in 1961 alongside George Peppard. Not only were they the stars but everyone linked to the movie had star status including Director Blake Edwards, writers George Axelrod but adapted from a Truman Capote novel and supporting stars such as Mickey Rooney.

As a fashion icon she was one of the first to appeal more to women than men in comparison with Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe. In 1961 she was added to the International Best Dressed List. She had a long association with French designer Hubert de Givenchy who first worked with her for the movie Sabrina and mistakenly thought he was working with Katherine Hepburn, but they formed a lifelong friendship.

Audrey had a long association with UNICEF starting with some radio programmes in the 1950s with her first trip on a mission in 1988 when she visited Ethiopia. In the same year she visited Turkey to help with an immunisation campaign.

Audrey passed away in 1993 but she will live on forever in so many ways.

The documentary is Directed by Helena Coan and covers Audrey’s life both inside and outside the spotlight. Here are some highlights:
