Matthew McConaughey is considering running for the Governor of Texas, this was revealed in a recent podcast “The Balanced Voice”.

His motivation is the belief he has something both to share and to teach. He also mentioned he is thinking about what his “leadership role” might be. Greg Abbott is the current governor and is up for reelection in 2022. 

Matthew has already had a number of different life paths. Having graduated with a degree in Radio, TV and Film, he began in the 1990s in TV commercials. By the late 1990’s he had already starred in a number of high grossing films including “Time to Kill” and “Contact”. At the start of the 21st Century and for the next 10 years or so Matthew started as a Rom-com leading man and then moved on as an established actor. The Rom-com roles included “How to Lose a Guy in 10 days and “The Wedding Planner”.By 2005, People magazine named him “Sexiest Man Alive”. 

Between 2011 and 2014 he was aware he was being typecast in rom-com roles and he sought new roles. This resulted in movies like “Magic Mike” and “Bernie””. But it was in 2013 that his senior actor status was enhanced when he made “Dallas Buyers Club” resulting in a best actor oscar and many other awards. In a role of rodeo rider catching AIDS he was required to lose 22kg in weight to play the role. Many roles have followed including a popular TV series “True Detective” partnering Woody Harrelson.

Like his father he has a love of football and more recently soccer, having acquired minority ownership of Austin FC scheduled to play in 2021 Major League Soccer.  

So maybe a life in politics is on the horizon as well!!
