Now running since 2017 and the most recent show being Season 5 Episode 6.
Going back to the beginning, it starts in September at the start of a new year at school. It follows the death on 4th July of one of the Blossom twins who were both popular and rich. The small town of Riverdale investigates the murder and we learn about the new school characters and their relationships and the mysteries of the murder are revealed.
Central to the whole series is the main character Archie Andrews played by K.J. Apa. Archie can be described as an honest, caring and kind-hearted person especially when family and friends are concerned. He subsequently suffers when bad things happen to friends and there is nothing he can do take away their pain.

One of the criticisms of the series is that it started with a really strong storyline based around the original murder, but the quality of the stories has not remained consistent since then.
There seems little doubt, therefore, that it is the characters themselves and their growth over time that has kept their audience involved and still switching on for more. Other main characters include Betty Cooper played by Lii Reinhart and Veronica Lodge played by Camila Mendes.
Veronica Lodge is known as the town privileged princess. She has no problem with the world seeing her money and she loves the finer things in life. She also uses her wealth to move Archie away from his best friend Betty.
