The Rocky series is an American boxing drama starring Sylvester Stallone. The films centres around Rocky Bilbao’s boxing career.  The first Rocky film was in 1979 and had five sequels based on Rocky.  The 7th and 8th Rocky was centred towards Adonis Creed, the son of Rocky’s friend and boxing rival.

Stallone said in July 2019 that another sequel was in development on a streaming service platform. The film series producer Irwin Winkler is concerned and hesitant about making a television series.

The Rocky movies have grossed more than $1.7 billion at the worldwide box office.

The original film won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Film Editing.
