Michael Dorf founded the New York City Venue “The Knitting Factory in 1986 honouring independent music. His Knitting Factory became a great international success by expanding to Europe and Asia tours and record deals.
Dorf is a pioneer in producing music on the web due to his relationship with Intel, Apple, MCI and Bell.
Dorf has now left the Knitting Factory and is working on the Carnegie Hall concert fundraising series, does winemaking and founded a Hebrew School. In 2008 in combination with his love for winemaking and music he founded the City Winery. It is NYC first winery, restaurant and music. venue. There are now City Wineries in six different states and in Washington D.C.
